A complete vintage pastry service in warm 24-carat gold plate — six teaspoons, six pastry forks and a pierced cake server, still housed in its original presentation box.

The server is the piece that stops the eye: an elongated, openwork bowl cut with scrolling foliage and flowers, finished with a shell terminal on the handle. The forks and spoons share the same handle — a slender stem swelling into a classical shell — so the set reads as one when it is laid for cake and tea.

Dimensions

Cake/pastry server: 22.3 cm
Pastry forks: 13.3 cm
Teaspoons: 13.3 cm
Presentation box: 22.3 x 25.4 x 3.3 cm

Condition

- Very Good - All 13 pieces present: 1 pierced cake server, 6 pastry forks, 6 teaspoons.
- Gold plating is bright and even across the set, with only the lightest signs of careful handling. No heavy wear-through visible.
- Pierced work on the server is crisp and complete.
- Forks and spoons are straight; tines and bowls are undistorted.
- Stamped on the reverse: STAINLESS STEEL / 24 CARAT GOLD PLATED. No maker’s name.
- Original box retained: dark blue textured outer case and red moulded insert. The insert shows expected age marks from the pieces sitting in it; the outer case is sound.

Additional Information

1. Design & Features
- A matching pastry service.
- The pierced server does the decorative work; the shell handles keep the forks and spoons quietly formal.
- Suitable for cake, tart, petit fours or a properly set tea tray.

2. Craftsmanship
- Stainless steel base with 24-carat gold plating.
- The piercing is stamped and finished, not handmade filigree, which is typical of good boxed sets from the 1960s–1980s.

3. About the Set
- Unmarked beyond the metal description.
- Sets of this type were sold as wedding and hostess gifts.

4. Uses & Versatility
- Use as intended for cake and tea, or split the pieces across a dessert table.
- The server also works for tarts and quiche.
- The gold sits well against creamware, ironstone and blue-and-white.

5. Care Instructions
- Hand wash only in warm soapy water.
- Dry immediately with a soft cloth.
- Do not leave to soak, and do not put in the dishwasher — both will wear the gold plate.
- Store in the original box or in a dry drawer, away from other metal that might scratch the surface.
