This HB Quimper bread and butter plate reflects the artistry and folk tradition of Brittany in every hand-painted detail. At the centre stands a Breton man, dressed in regional attire and holding a shepherd’s staff, surrounded by trees, red wildflowers, and birds overhead. 

Perfect for a small breakfast or snack setting, or as a wall or shelf accent in a French country-style home. Also makes a lovely pairing with the matching Femme au Bouquet plate for a complete his-and-hers Breton tableau.

- Very Good - This plate is in very good vintage condition.
- No chips or cracks are present.
- The glaze remains smooth with light signs of age consistent with faience of this period.
- Presents beautifully and is suitable for use or display.

- This plate belongs to the Tradition Bretonne series and features what is often referred to as the Homme au Bâton (Man with a Walking Stick or Shepherd’s Staff).
- The stylised border alternates between red and blue flower bursts with green foliage, outlined with hand-applied yellow, pink, and blue rings.
- Each plate is hand-painted, giving subtle differences that make every piece unique.

2. Craftsmanship:
- Made in Quimper, France by HB (Henriot-Bousquet), a historic pottery manufacturer known for its hand-painted faience.
- The reverse is marked “HB Quimper F.476 D. Tradition H.M.” which verifies the style, series, and decorator’s mark.
- The HB Quimper mark is a trusted indicator of the region’s deep ceramic heritage.

- Henriot-Bousquet (HB) is one of the most iconic faience makers of Brittany.
- With roots in the 17th century, the Henriot workshops became renowned for their detailed hand-painted pottery reflecting daily life in rural France.
