A small English wall cameo of a boy and girl, seated together in classical dress, the girl holding a posy. The white relief sits on a dark ground inside a gilt-metal frame with a hanging ring, the sort of miniature made to be grouped rather than hung alone.

It comes from the Miniature World of Peter Bates Ltd, Titchfield, Hampshire, a late-20th-century workshop that produced a whole series of these framed reliefs.

Dimensions

- Diameter: 7.6 cm
- Height including ring: 9.4 cm
- Depth: 1.6 cm

Condition

- Very good. The relief is crisp, with the drapery, faces and posy still clearly modelled, and the gilt frame and hanging ring are intact.
- The domed cover is intact.
- The reverse is covered in the original camel velvet, with a little honest shading and a tiny dark speck near the ring.
- The foil label is present and legible: Boy & Girl in Cameo, from the miniature world of Peter Bates Ltd, Titchfield, Hants.
