Enjoy your afternoon tea with this classic vintage fine bone china tea trio in Royal Albert’s celebrated Old Country Roses pattern.

This beautifully coordinated three-piece set includes a standard teacup in the Montrose shape, a matching saucer, and a side plate. Each piece features clusters of deep burgundy-red roses, warm peach tea roses, and soft pink buds nestled in green foliage. The finely fluted, scalloped edges are finished with hand-applied 22-carat gold stippling.

Condition

- Excellent - This trio is in excellent vintage condition, maintaining its original glossy glaze and structural integrity. There are no chips, cracks, structural crazing, or signs of repair.

Trio Profile: The components stack evenly and fit squarely into their respective wells, with the gold work on the cup handle and base remaining thick and vibrant.

Saucer Face: The central saucer well is clean, showing no significant surface rub, ring wear, or tea stains.

Side Plate Face: Crisp floral transfers and completely intact gold sponging around the entire scalloped edge, free from distracting cutlery scratches.

Backstamp Verification: The underside of the side plate displays the authentic vintage backstamp reading: “Old Country Roses / ROYAL ALBERT ® / BONE CHINA / ENGLAND / © 1962 ROYAL ALBERT LTD”. The smooth finish across the crest verifies all pieces are first-quality English production from the 1974–1993 era.

Additional Information

1. Design & Features
- The Traditional Trio Format: Offers the pairing of an individual cup, saucer, and matching side plate required for a formal British tea setting.
- The Montrose Cup Profile: Recognisable by its fluid curves, a flared top rim that helps diffuse heat, and a classic split-twisted handle decorated with a gold spine.
- Coordinated Borders: The rose transfer borders are scaled perfectly across each piece, trailing into the interior rim of the cup and encircling the wide wells of the plates.

2. Craftsmanship
- Hand-Applied Stippling: The 22-carat gold edges feature a traditional sponged or stippled texture rather than a sharp line, blending softly with the undulating scalloped porcelain borders.
- First-Quality English Manufacture: Fired and decorated at the historic St. Mary's Works in Stoke-on-Trent, England. The backstamp lacks any factory second score marks, scratches, or drill holes, confirming it passed the highest quality inspections.
- Pristine Bone China Body: Formulated from classic fine bone china to achieve a high-gloss white lustre, durability, and a delicate translucent quality under light.

3. Uses & Versatility
- Daily Use: Brings an elegant, celebratory feel to your morning or afternoon tea times.
- Vignettes: Highly collectible and visually impactful when stacked or tiered inside open display shelving, plate racks, or a heritage Welsh dresser.
- Bespoke Mix-and-Match: Serves as an excellent foundation piece if you are building a larger, multi-pattern table setting.

4. Care Instructions
To safeguard the delicate gold stippling and brilliant floral transfers:
- Hand Wash Only: Wash gently by hand in warm, soapy water with a soft, non-abrasive sponge.
- Keep Out of Dishwashers: High temperatures and harsh chemical detergents will wear away the 22-carat gold detailing and gradually dull the glaze over time.
- Do Not Microwave: Due to the heavy metallic content of the genuine gold stippling, this entire set is completely unsafe for microwave use.
