A substantial and beautifully balanced Jasperware bowl in Wedgwood’s iconic pale blue, decorated with a continuous frieze of classical Sacrifice scenes in applied white relief. The figures — priestesses, attendants, and symbolic animals — are shown in procession beneath trees and beside altars, a motif Wedgwood repeatedly revisited from 18th-century engravings.
A slender oak-leaf border completes the design, lending quiet refinement without interrupting the narrative band below.

2. Craftsmanship
- Crafted by Wedgwood, this bowl reflects the hand-applied relief technique that sets Jasperware apart.
- Each figure and tree was moulded separately and applied by hand before firing, resulting in crisp detailing and a subtle raised texture.
- The refinement of the modelling — folds of drapery, foliage, and expressive gestures — is characteristic of mid-20th-century Wedgwood production, when classical revival pieces remained central to the brand’s identity.
3. Uses & Versatility
- Beautiful as a decorative centrepiece on a console or sideboard
- Suitable for serving dry items or presentation use (wrapped sweets, potpourri)
- Works well as a sculptural object in neoclassical, English country, or curated contemporary interiors
- A significant addition to any Jasperware collection, especially for collectors of large-form pieces
