The Rounded Ceramic Brick is a masterclass in functional sculpture. Part of a multi-use collection by Wiid Design, these bricks are designed to be played with—stacked, layered, or stood alone as a minimalist architectural statement.
Crafted from earthenware and finished in a high-gloss reactive green glaze, each brick features soft edges that contrast with its solid, industrial weight. Whether used as a functional plinth or a standalone object, it brings a grounded, artisanal presence to a room.

Additional Information
Additional Information
1. Design & Features
- The Form: A solid, elongated "brick" with smooth, radiused ends.
- The Finish: Reactive green glaze over earthenware. The firing process creates a variegated, "frosted" effect in the green pigment that is unique to every single piece.
- The Base: The underside is finished with a thin layer of cork to protect your surfaces and provide a non-slip grip.
2. Craftsmanship
- Each brick is hand-cast and glazed in the Wiid Design studio in Cape Town.
- The studio's expertise in both ceramics and cork is evident here, combining a heavy ceramic body with a protective cork base for a truly considered finish.
3. About Wiid Design
Led by Laurie Wiid van Heerden, the studio is renowned for transforming utilitarian shapes into high-end collectible design. Their work is a staple for those who value South African craftsmanship and sustainable, storied materials.
4. Uses & Versatility
- Sculptural Plinths: These are designed to be stacked. Use a single brick—or a pair—to create a raised platform for smaller treasures, such as a delicate ceramic bowl or a piece of coral.
- Architectural Bookends: Thanks to their significant weight and 7.2 cm height, they work beautifully on a bookshelf to hold a heavy collection of volumes in place.
- Tabletop Anchors: Use a single brick as a tactile "tray" for daily essentials or simply as a solid, organic element to break up the linear lines of a sideboard.
- Display Bases: They are perfect for creating varied heights in a curated display, allowing you to highlight specific pieces in your collection.
